Seniors to See Lower Costs in Medicare Drug Advantage Plans in 2014

Medicare Advantage and Part D costs for seniors are going down, according to an announcement last week by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

“The Affordable Care Act (ACA) helps us strengthen Medicare Advantage and Part D,” said Jonathan Blum, CMS acting principal deputy administrator and director of the CMS’ Center for Medicare. “We are working to ensure that people with Medicare have affordable access to health and drug plans, while making certain that plans are providing value to Medicare and taxpayers.”

One of the ways CMS is increasing value and protections for beneficiaries in 2014 is with lower co-payments and a lower deductible than in 2013.

Below is a summary of the proposed 2014 updates to the annual Medicare Part D parameters. The final 2014 Rate Announcement will be published on Monday, April 1, 2013. Find out more here.
